Game One
It seemed like a great idea! After arriving at the rink a couple of us Moms decided it would be great if we wore our players other jerseys which were conveniently in the truck of one of the coaches. Actually I suggested it when I saw the Moms from the other team walk in wearing their players jerseys and not to be outdone I said we should do that! Well it turned out to be a bad idea:( It changed the vibe us Moms have been in since the beginning of the season. It created a sense of uneasiness…our mojo was off kilter and what was worse…we covered up our black parka style hockey mom rink coats!!! I regretted feeling the need to show the other Moms we too can come up with a such a nifty idea.
And then my gloomy feelings proved to be right when the other team scored their first goal and then they scored their second goal…and then third goal and just as I was about to stand up and Incredible Hulk that jersey right off my back…we scored! But alas it was just not our night. The game ended at 3 – 1 in favour of the team whose Moms will likely where their sons jerseys again tomorrow.
So we got in the car and the first thing Aleksei says is the Moms are NOT wearing our jerseys tomorrow night! Right Son.
The other thing the parents from the other team did to prepare for this first game was fill empty milk jugs up with coins which turns out to be a very effective noise maker. Our parents, for the most part, have never been honking, clanking, drumming kind of parents, but I did ask Aleksei if he thought it might help if we were. He replied yes…it’s hard when we hear the noise coming from the other teams fans…we don’t hear voices…we need to hear some noise.
So as we speak we are guzzling milk and gathering up coins;)

Loved the Ping Pong stories and pictures! Not so much the first game results…..so no team jerseys and lots of noise tonight……get that “Mama Bear Mojo” back and go get ‘em!
